MERDEKA!!

Brunei Darussalam is a small country on the North coast of the island of Borneo. This country is ruled by it's monarchs. We achieved our independence in 1984, the first of January. It was declared so by the late SOAS III. But we celebrated it on the 23rd of February every year. Which is today.

Okay enough with the history lesson/first grade english essay. Since i was little, i am always a patriotic person. Well i don't really know if i was but i would like to assume that i am. But now i know for sure that i am. Patriotic. I am very proud of my country and what it has achieved in the past 26th year. I'm very proud to be Bruneian, never regretted it even for a second. I mean free education and medical facilities and not to mention a tax free country. Genius!!!

In 2005 when  i was in form one I was so glad and very proud to be given the opportunity to perform in front of the entire country along with thousands of other Bruneians. It's an experience that i will never forget, although i was alone most of the time during practices because all the people in my group are the people i have never seen before mostly the people from other classes. I would honestly say to you that i'm not a fan of the practices at all. Try imagining yourself running and twirling umbrellas under the hot scorching sun. It was dreadful, until the day of the real performance. It was nerve-wrecking but at the same time i was relieved that it's going to end soon AND at the same time that i was proud to be there. After the performance ended i looked very tanned. Emphasis on the word 'Very'. And in 2008 i am lucky enough to get another chance to do another national day performance and this time i wasn't alone, i was grouped with my friends. I was performing next to my best friend Halimin. You think this time I would have the same experience as before, but guess what? It wasn't. It was totally a whole new experience, especially when your performing with some of your closest friends. Halimin, Zaki, Saufi and Adli im talking about you guys, we were in the same row when we preformed. It was hella fun. If i have brought my now-completely-dead-and-fried camera back then we would have tons of pictures. But alas, i didn't, but the memories will long live in my head and my heart. Other than that the practices were still dreadfully tiring. But it's dreadfully sweet if you share them with your friends. I forgot to mention about Sharull and Nazib and Burhan, but i don't think we were in the same row though.

On a more patriotic note, which is the the initial purpose about this article. Today is the 26th annual independence day celebration and in a few more hours we will see the field performance and march pass. I would like to say Happy independence day to all my fellow Bruneians, be it here, nor abroad. By the great words of Begawan Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, melaungkan kalimah "Allahuakbar,Allahuakbar,Allahuakbar! " marked Brunei as an Independent country.

MERDEKA!!
p.s. I purposely covered their faces, just to be safe.

81 singers, one song, one cause.

Music is a universal language!!
Exactly a week ago, this video is posted up on Youtube. This song is very inspirational, although it sounded a little bit odd with Wyclef Jean yodeling his face off but that's not the point. This video is created for a far more greater cause, to unite all human race in order to help Haiti. So enjoy.

I assume you've already finished watching the whole 8 plus minutes of this video. So what do you think? It has a list of great singers ranging from Barbra Streisand to Josh Groban to Celine Dion. P!nk sang as well! yeeaaah~ go P!nk. Oh Orianthi contributed her wicked guitar skills as well. And the list goes on. But i'm not surprised there's a lot of haters that hated this remake. They said these singers destroyed the original song. The song was let's just say bejurit, there are 81 (if im not mistaken) singers who contributed their voice into this remake and everyone is fighting to get their voices heard, it's like all their voices are just pasted on top of each other. Is that  even possible? And not to mention the yodeling,  and the rapping and the autotunes. Isn't it suppose to be a ballad? The producers only looked at the younger demographic and what these youngsters find appealing. But whatever, it's alright. Whadapuck! did i just said, people are dying out there and horrible things happened. So at the very least lets give a round of applause to these singers for uniting to help these Haitians who is in dire need of clean water supply and a place for shelter. This goes to you too haters. If you think you're so much better, why don't you do it yourself then?

Damn! do i sound like a total hypocrite?

Emm i would like to contradict on what i just said before, especially the rapping part, i actually enjoyed it. It adds a certain umph to it! And i would like to remind you again that the reason this collaboration was made in the first place was to help unite the people to help the Haiti earthquake victims. And make music as a unifying force and a universal language. Dangar tu!

This is one of the many reasons why i like to be famous someday, i want to help change the world for the better. Singing may not be my talent but i'll work something out.

Prens poreva!

Hellow!
Last year i remembered about writing an article about goodbye's and all. It's all about how im not going to see my classmates and my teachers. But now im writing to a specific person in mind and with Regina Spektor- The call on repeat on my iPod.

So tonight i felt like everything is moving too fast, especially when i realized that me and my buddy- all- time-close-best-friend, Halimin is not going to go to the same school. We're finally parting from each other. We're not going to see each other everyday like we use to. No more laughing like crazy hyena's  because someone is bringing a cup of noodle in he middle of class. No more bitching about that popular dude with 'the body'. No more scheming against that dude cause he said something bad to us. No more calling each other by the names of Jijah, Jauyah, Munah, Munap, Minah, Kam Bai, Kayah etcetera etcetera oh how i'm gonna miss those names. No more gay jokes and so and so, you basically get the idea. And don't forget about talking on the phone for hours on end almost every night talking about stuff in school without realizing that we're repeating our conversation. And the stupid fights we had, and not talking to each other for days and realizing our stupid mistake and become closer than ever. Okay i need to stop the music, it's too sad for me. Frankly i always thought that this day will never come, that we will always remain friends, young, wild and free to do whatever. I never wanted to say goodbye. But it is a part of life that you can never avoid. It's really sad to be honest. But i'm not going to forget all of this. I will treasure them till the day i die. eseh!

You know what? I change my mind, it's not goodbye it never was and never will be, Brunei is a small country. We will eventually bump into each other. Not everyday but i hope we can hang out and catch up. Life goes on. It's not like he's dead or anything. I will meet new people, they may not be able to compete with my bestie but it's okay.

 I, Md Mahyuddin quotes.
"Friends are like food, when you don't eat them they will eventually go bad and you throw them away. But if you eat them they'll always remain in your stomach no matter where you go"

I know it's not the best saying you've ever read but hey, just add a pinch of imagination and your on your way. There's not enough words to describe how close we were or how crazy we could be cause we're coo'. Words aren't cool enough to describe us.

Dapan plet si Jijah sama Hjh Minah. Pelanggan
setia kami. Masa ari raya ah bisdia bedua anitah
yang rajin membali amas-amasan kami ni sama kain

  Tadaaa~
Don't you just envy my lustrous, thick and silky hair? hahaha i guess not.

Showing off my our assets. Are you liking what your seeing?
Ignore the name at the back of my shirt, let's just say i was
                                      once obsessed with pet society.

Friends forever, oui?

And to Halimin, i would like to apologize if i ever done something wrong or offend you. Manlah kan diketahui, manatau kau pandam kemarahan mu atu. hehehe bah eh by the great words of the people of the poklen community, chAw dLu. wekwekwek.

Mahyuddin reads #1

Hey guys!

I haven't been blogging for the past 7 or 8 days. I've been busy, well not really. But we have sembahyang hajat every night since a few nights ago. (I don't remember when)

I actually wanted to blog about something else but whatever. Lets talk about books. Before that I just want to voice my concerns on the books that is sold here in the country. There aren't many book stores that offers books for leisure reading like Best eastern or Reader's haven and Paul & Elizabeth. And what bothers me more is that, there aren't many books for guys to read out there, frankly speaking, i don't really have a problem with that. you see, i read books that interests me and my opinion is, books shouldn't be classified according to gender. But that's me, what about the male community, guys don't normally read and the books offered here in the country are like those super her science fictions and weird vampire wizards with magical powers of some sorts. I have nothing against these types of books but you see, im just not a fan of those kinds of book. What else are there to buy for us guys? Not only that, bestsellers are usually sold here years after it was declared a bestseller. Whenever i see a good book review online, i would normally go to the bookstore whenever i have the chance and look it up, and to my surprise, the books are not available yet. When is it going to be available, i don;t know, a year from now perhaps. Did i mention that the books sold here are expensive? I bet you that you pay more than what the book is worth.  Honestly im a firm believer that good books are usually more expensive, but $30 for a 300 page book? and it's not even a good one if i may add. That's a fraud. So my only solution is whenever im abroad i would be buying books like it's going out of style (if you get what i mean) , it's much more cheaper and has far far FAR more choices than what we have here in Brunei.

Okay enough with the whining. I am currently reading The time traveler's wife by Audrey Niffenegger, it's an awfully thick book, but judging from the few pages i've read, it's a good book..so far. It's quite interesting really. If you want to know more just click HERE. But i will stop at page 53, cause i just realized that i haven't finished one of my other book.

Anyways you know the movie The notebook, A walk to remember, Message in a bottle and etc. It's a screen adaptation of all the books written by the author, Nicholas Spark. I have never read his books before. The reasons because i just haven't found them yet. So im gonna make a commitment to find at least one of his books and give it a read.

Form 6 baby!!

Hey!

Okay so today i went to Maktab Duli, like super early in the morning, when i came it was scorching hot to be honest and the students there are eyeing me down as if im like a walking turd. So anyways, the interview was fun. I really enjoyed it. I was there along with Halimin, Nazib and Mu'izz. When i came in there weren't as many people as i would have expected. So then i had my first interview with this teacher, she was pretty awesome. Here's the thing, i mistakenly jot down the numbers on my form about the subjects, thinking that it's like a personal preference, then she was like, why is this wrong and whatnot, so i said oh i thought thats how your suppose to do it. And she just laughed like hell and i was surprised, and she said that's cute. Then i was like, pardon. and she's like your mistake, it's cute and your personality is cute too. I blushed, ofcourse you can't see it sseing that my complexion is well, y'knw what, nevermind.

Moving on, so after that i went to the career guidance councilor because i don't know what subjects to take, well actually i get the idea on what to take for my A-levels it's just that im not sure if it was offered in that school. Anyways the teacher asked me what im looking for in the future so i said, maybe law or politics, maybe even business. So he recomended me

  • History
  • Thinking skills (as my AS)
  • Literature
  • Sociology
  • Economics
So i went to the teahcers, did this and that. It was awesome, each interview took me like 15-20 minutes. What? i ask alot of questions. So anyways Limin tried to apply to MD by appealing with the teachers, unfortunately he didn't get into MD, it was sad indeed. I just hoep we'd still be seeing each other. Anyways, psychology is a new subject that is offered in MD and the teachers are one of the very first students in Brunei to take Psychology in form 6.So yeah their pretty young, i don't know their names yet but i call one of them Sasha Fierce, hahaha cos idk maybe it's the way she projects herself in that particular time. And im one ? Well i am, you see one of the teachers said to me that you need a balance in your subjects so instead of opting for geography or history i took economics. It sounds crazy really cause well i got a C for my eco and B's for both geo and history. I took sociology as well, it's really interesting and the teacher is well nevermind.
I think i have written alot, and im still not half way through. It was a great experience and you just have to be there to experience it. Btw im taking June maths, i know im crazy but whattheheck!!
PRESSURE!!!

So these are the subjects that im taking

Economics
Sociology
Psychology
EAS

I hopre there's no slacking off anymore this year. A-levels is not a picnic in the park.

That's it, im going now. I have to wake up early tomorrow.

 Fact of the day
You can only get braifreeze from eating icecream or drinking slushies when the weather is hot.
p.s. Just point and laugh at the grammatical errors or whatever, im too exhausted to think straight. No, im still straight, im not gay. If that's what your thinking.

We are family! I got all my sisters with me. We are family! Get up ev'rybody and sing

Before i say hi i just wanted to tell you people that the title above are taken from the song We are family by sister slendge (google them if you don't know)

 Hey!

So okay today i attended this wedding at hua ho manggis, there's a hall there, it was pretty lavish. Unfortunately i don't have any  pictures to show you guys, so yeah. Im still waiting for my lovely cousin Liyana Nadhirah  to email them to me though. I'll put it up som other time, if i have them that is.

Right after the wedding, well actually right BEFORE the wedding my sis received a call from my cousin, offering us to go for a picnic, somewhere. So after that we went there. And first of all let me tell you that we drove like half an hour from home to get there. I think they call it Kolam si Louis i think, frankly speaking i don't really know the name of the place. But there are 2 things that im sure about. First of all, the place smells like crap. Literally! and secondly it has a lot of fish. After all it is a kolam full of fish. When you catch them you are charged according to the type of fish and their weight. It's a very lucrative business really. And the fish is not like those you see at the pasar (fish market) their huge and..well huge lah! We had a "picnic" there. Oh did i mention that there was this fish, a giant fish. It's soooo huge like frakishly ginormous!! it's almost the same size as me except it doesn't have all my assets. I think they've captured alot, especially my uncle Mursidi a.k.a Amit CD. That man is a fish magnet. My bungsu captured one of the most expensive fish out of the batch. Bah belajatah bungsu! And my cousin, almost ALMOST caught this fish, ikan patin and guess what, her name is Fatin as well (pronounced Patin) and her brother as well, he was 3 if im not mistaken, well around that age lah. Unfortunately the fish got away, if he would have caught the fish he would be the youngest person to catch the fish in our family. His name is Faiq Daniel. What else? umm.. nevermind just enjoy these photos. Credits to Nurkhairunissa Afiqah Haji Mursidi.

Faiq Daniel: The little guy trying to fish. Doesn't it remind you of that milk ads on tv? where they have baby lawyers, footballers and stuff?

A closer look at the little legend.

And Fatin pronounced Patin, like the fish!

The lads.

The lassies.

The chicas.

My dad was panicking when he caught a big fish, sadly it got away. haha

But nevertheless, he got his share. hahaha look at how excited he was.

Haikal and Shasha! isn't it the most darling thing you had ever seen?

And it was scorching hot and im not even talking about the weather. hahaha
The weather was hot too.

I got that cause im coo'!!!

BOOOOYAAAH! HAHAHAHA

AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE WAY I TYPE, I AM SUPER EXCITED. YES WRITING WITH CAPS FOR ME MEANS EXCITED!!!! TODAY THE RESULTS CAME OUT, FINALLY. AFTER WEEKS OF BEING NERVOUS AND WHATNOT. YOU  MIGHT BE WONDERING WHAT DID I GET FOR MY O-LEVEL. SO YEAH I WOULDN'T WANT TO KEEP YOU READERS WAITING.

I should stop  using caps, it's probably annoying. I GOT 5 O's BABY!! AND I GOT IT CAUSE I'M COO'!!!
yeah i prayed hard to get 6 but, hey what's done is done, you can't always get what you want am i right? I'm telling you here is because unlike some people i don't like to flaunt my results, not because im embarrassed or anything, no, it's because, i don't want the less fortunate to be sad. I mean yeah i got 5, you might be like

"mun ganya 5 wah, jangantah dulu, buatkan urang sedih??..palat saja usulnya mun 5 o's atuwah"

It might not be much but for me it's enough, that's as far as i can go, so far. Cause Allah has better plans for me in the future. Plus i think i did pretty good for someone who studied a few weeks before the o-level started. I'm still young so live and let loose. Oh and here's my results

English- B3
B.M.- B4
Geo-B3
Hist-B3
Eco-C5
Physics-D7
POA-U
Maths.-U(as expected)

I'm actually happy that achieved those results, well currently im a little dissapointed at myself for getting U for both maths and poa, but what-efer, atleast i get to get out of that school. I am in no way saying that getting U's on your o-levels or any exams for that fact is okay but if that's the best you can do then just be happy if your not satisfied then you know you gotta work hard for it. Im free now, and from today i have less than 2 years to study for my A-levels. Maktab Duli here i come! i think im going there. I feel so much better now knowing that i finally get to go there. And to those who didn't make it, well guess what? there's always June. Study smart yeah! It's not the end of the world, i know i sound like a total hypocrite cause if that happened to me i would be devastated and im sure it;s the end of the world for moi. Okay now im just being plain selfish.

Okay listen and listen well, okay in this case, read and read well. If you didn't get it, i know pretty damn well you have tried your very best. And to those around you who bragged about your results, screw them what do they know about you. Always know that you are better than them, just don't be obnoxious that's all. hee i thinks thats all i can say. Email or text or msn or facebook or cbox me if you need a friend!

Fact of the day
The Italian flag is inspired by the French flag introduced during Napoleon's 1797 invasion of the peninsula.

p/s sorry if what i blog made no sense, cause i'm a little caught up with my msn cause people have been texting me non-stop. 13 people to be exact. Everything about the results.

Mahyuddin is currently listening to. #1™

Hey!

First of all, Boon i will post your requested article some other time, i promise i'll do it and I don't think i have to explain the reasons to you. yes? Let's just say im not feeling creative. And I promise you that it's not a hassle for me to do it, infact im delighted to do it but not now. okay?

Your probably tired of hearing this but, yes the result didn't come out today, again as expected. But anyways, as you can see from the title, i am thinking of making something like a music review about what or who i am currently listening to. It's not necessarily gonna be about the latest hits or who's the next Lady Gaga. It's more about what I'M currently listening to (hence the title), it might be the latest album release or even songs from the 60's. It's MY opinion so it might offend you in some ways especially if your a fan of the mentioned group/singer but bear in mind that i am not a professional nor am i paid to do this. It's my personal opinion and i would like to apologize in advance to whom that is offended by the content of this article. Enough about this bollocks lets get this show on the road!!

Okay so im currently listening to Nick Jonas new "side project" with his "administration". haha well i listened to his newly released album titled Nick Jonas & the administration: Who i am , it was actually good I mean i thought it's gonna be all mushy and lovey-dovey and stuff, but it's actually good. I didn't buy his album though. What's the use of the internet if your just gonna buy the album? The album is somewhat mature so to speak. I liked it, i wouldn't expect this coming out of a Disney based boy band but still. Nick outdone himself this time, im sure he's pressured or maybe even had a thought of ditching his 2 brothers i mean he can totally made a career all by himself without the help of his 2 brothers, lets be realistic who's the real musician here? ...i thought so.

I actually dug up some information about his new "side project" and only a few nights ago that i've heard of this. And if im not mistaken his album is released on 2nd of February. Okay enough about Jonas talk i don't want a stampede of angry girls or guys to claw the hell out of the moneymaker my face.

Nick Jonas & the administration: who I am
Fact of the day
I kept writing Nick Jonas and the "ADMINISTRATOR" instead of ADMINISTRATION.
Food for thought
Do you think that Nick would ever ditch his 2 brothers? If so, do you think that's a good move?

p/s: If any of you readers would like to suggest any singers/bands/songs or even your own record (if your an aspiring songwriter) to be reviewed by yours truly, i would certainly be honored to do it. Just tell me via cbox or facebook.

truckloads of love,

How fame, glitz and glamor can benefit the society.

Hi guys,

Today i was bored to the bone, and im lazy and my face itches. I just lie down all day on my bed watching Ugly Betty on youtube. Then right this moment i was fired up and inspired to write an article, it was inspired by the Grammy's and my friends resentment with anything to do with fame, glitz and glamor.

Fame by definition is widespread reputation, esp. of a favorable character or a renown public eminence. Atleast that's what dictionary.com told me.

But im not here to talk about how i am inspired to be known and fame is practically the only thing that i count on. No! well maybe we'll talk about that some other time. But im here to talk about it at a slightly different angle hence the title.

First of all,  if we look at award shows, movie premier or any other even of the same nature there are always people working on something from the paparazzi's, to the lighting/sound technician or even the cleaners, so this can lead to increase in the demand of employment. Secondly, some celebrities like Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Madonna and some significant others are pure hearted humanitarians, since they are very influential they are able to raise public awareness and educate people on certain matter that is too big for a normal, non-influential people to handle, for example AIDS, earthquake in Haiti and etcetera etcetera etcetera. Finally, businesses are improved, how is this relevant? well you see when celebrities come to a restaurant they are likely to "tweet" about it and thus bringing in more customers. Who needs to pay for advertising if you have celebrities. Their the most inexpensive and reliable type of advertising.

In conclusion, fame and all that is significant to the definition of it is not all about glitz and glamor. It can benefit a community or the world as a whole. Socially that is.

I would love to ramble on and on about this, but i think you get the point. I don't think people my age are very keen in these sorts of things, their somewhat very "educational" and you have enough of that in school. It's basic economics really but with a twist of glitz and glamor.

Food for thought.
Give me what your outlook on fame? good-bad? your call.
