Mahyuddin reads #1

Hey guys!

I haven't been blogging for the past 7 or 8 days. I've been busy, well not really. But we have sembahyang hajat every night since a few nights ago. (I don't remember when)

I actually wanted to blog about something else but whatever. Lets talk about books. Before that I just want to voice my concerns on the books that is sold here in the country. There aren't many book stores that offers books for leisure reading like Best eastern or Reader's haven and Paul & Elizabeth. And what bothers me more is that, there aren't many books for guys to read out there, frankly speaking, i don't really have a problem with that. you see, i read books that interests me and my opinion is, books shouldn't be classified according to gender. But that's me, what about the male community, guys don't normally read and the books offered here in the country are like those super her science fictions and weird vampire wizards with magical powers of some sorts. I have nothing against these types of books but you see, im just not a fan of those kinds of book. What else are there to buy for us guys? Not only that, bestsellers are usually sold here years after it was declared a bestseller. Whenever i see a good book review online, i would normally go to the bookstore whenever i have the chance and look it up, and to my surprise, the books are not available yet. When is it going to be available, i don;t know, a year from now perhaps. Did i mention that the books sold here are expensive? I bet you that you pay more than what the book is worth.  Honestly im a firm believer that good books are usually more expensive, but $30 for a 300 page book? and it's not even a good one if i may add. That's a fraud. So my only solution is whenever im abroad i would be buying books like it's going out of style (if you get what i mean) , it's much more cheaper and has far far FAR more choices than what we have here in Brunei.

Okay enough with the whining. I am currently reading The time traveler's wife by Audrey Niffenegger, it's an awfully thick book, but judging from the few pages i've read, it's a good book..so far. It's quite interesting really. If you want to know more just click HERE. But i will stop at page 53, cause i just realized that i haven't finished one of my other book.

Anyways you know the movie The notebook, A walk to remember, Message in a bottle and etc. It's a screen adaptation of all the books written by the author, Nicholas Spark. I have never read his books before. The reasons because i just haven't found them yet. So im gonna make a commitment to find at least one of his books and give it a read.

p.s. The original title of this post was Books Galore #1
