MERDEKA!!

Brunei Darussalam is a small country on the North coast of the island of Borneo. This country is ruled by it's monarchs. We achieved our independence in 1984, the first of January. It was declared so by the late SOAS III. But we celebrated it on the 23rd of February every year. Which is today.

 Okay enough with the history lesson/first grade english essay. Since i was little, i am always a patriotic person. Well i don't really know if i was but i would like to assume that i am. But now i know for sure that i am. Patriotic. I am very proud of my country and what it has achieved in the past 26th year. I'm very proud to be Bruneian, never regretted it even for a second. I mean free education and medical facilities and not to mention a tax free country. Genius!!!

 In 2005 when  i was in form one I was so glad and very proud to be given the opportunity to perform in front of the entire country along with thousands of other Bruneians. It's an experience that i will never forget, although i was alone most of the time during practices because all the people in my group are the people i have never seen before mostly the people from other classes. I would honestly say to you that i'm not a fan of the practices at all. Try imagining yourself running and twirling umbrellas under the hot scorching sun. It was dreadful, until the day of the real performance. It was nerve-wrecking but at the same time i was relieved that it's going to end soon AND at the same time that i was proud to be there. After the performance ended i looked very tanned. Emphasis on the word 'Very'. And in 2008 i am lucky enough to get another chance to do another national day performance and this time i wasn't alone, i was grouped with my friends. I was performing next to my best friend Halimin. You think this time I would have the same experience as before, but guess what? It wasn't. It was totally a whole new experience, especially when your performing with some of your closest friends. Halimin, Zaki, Saufi and Adli im talking about you guys, we were in the same row when we preformed. It was hella fun. If i have brought my now-completely-dead-and-fried camera back then we would have tons of pictures. But alas, i didn't, but the memories will long live in my head and my heart. Other than that the practices were still dreadfully tiring. But it's dreadfully sweet if you share them with your friends. I forgot to mention about Sharull and Nazib and Burhan, but i don't think we were in the same row though.

 On a more patriotic note, which is the the initial purpose about this article. Today is the 26th annual independence day celebration and in a few more hours we will see the field performance and march pass. I would like to say Happy independence day to all my fellow Bruneians, be it here, nor abroad. By the great words of Begawan Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien,melaungkan kalimah "Allahuakbar,Allahuakbar,Allahuakbar! " marked Brunei as an Independent country.
